Mike Pence Will Be President This Week, But Not For Long

President Trump found out late Monday night that he will need minor surgery that will require him to be under general anesthesia. The surgery, to repair an elbow recently damaged in his backswing, isn’t considered life threatening. Whenever a president is incapacitated by general anesthesia, however, they are required to hand the presidency to the next in the line of succession.

In this case, that would be Mike Pence. Pence will technically become the 46th President of the United States and will remain in power for as long as it takes for Trump to recover and regain full consciousness, which should be less than 24 hours. President Trump will present the cabinet with a letter stating his intentions to hand over the office and another, to be signed by Pence upon its return.

Vice-President Pence said he looks forward to keeping the chair warm and other than a few minor items he’s passionate about, he won’t be looking to change a thing. He said those passions include school prayer, school vouchers and ending special privileges and rights for homosexuals.

“We’re all supposed to be equal,” said Pence, ” but gosh darn it, we Christians certainly don’t feel like our rights are being looked after.”

The President’s office says he’s looking forward to the break from the massive demands of the job. “It’s been a while since he’s had a mini-vacation,” said Jeff Derpinger, Director of the WHOIP, “He can use some downtime.

The surgery is scheduled for later this week. For security, the public will be informed after he wakes up.
